Why choose washable nappies?
-It’s good for the baby’s health:
The materials used are studied to allow the skin to breathe. The baby’s skin is fragile, the consequences of extended contact with the chemical products contained in disposable nappies cannot yet be measured. The overheating created by closing up the male genitals in a plastic nappy could be responsible for infertility.
-Profitable for the parents:
Contrary to disposable nappies, the baby feels that he is wet more quickly, and thus learns to know when he wets himself. We have experience that babies who use washable nappies become clean much faster than others.
-It’s good for nature:
From birth to cleanliness, you must count at least 4000 nappies, or almost 1 ton of disposable nappies per baby. The production of cellulose used for the making of disposable nappies uses a lot of energy and pollutes a lot. Disposable nappies also take a very long time to decompose. Using washable nappies is an important contribution to reducing urban waste.
-It’s good for the family budget:
Not only do the washable nappies preserve and respect the environment, they are also money-saving.
How do they work?
Nowadays, washable nappies’ cut and comfort resembles that of disposable nappies.
For one complete change, you need:
-one nappy
-possibly a double nappy for the night, traveling, or for babies who urinate a lot
-possibly a sheet of absorbent paper, to throw the feces directly into the toilet
Cleaning:
The nappies should be washed at 30°
Prewash:
All nappies must be washed before use. This means washing them in a normal cycle (with white linen) with your usual detergent. 30° is enough, and it is not necessary to dry between cycles. It is recommended to wash the nappies at least 4-5 times, and they will be more absorbent after several uses.
How to use:
1. Place the nappy under the baby (eventually add the insert and/or a sheet of disposable paper in between)
2. Fold up the nappy
3. Close the press-studs
Tip: Each day, you might use 5 or 6 nappies. Therefore we recommend having 12 nappies and insert/paper sheets to remove the feces.

The disposable sheets allow to easily remove the feces. They can be thrown in the toilet.
They are very resistant: if the baby has only urinated, they can be washed 2 or 3 times.
Ideal to remove “big ones”.
Soft and pleasant to the touch.
The baby’s sensitive skin remains much drier.
The sheets in the box are drier, therefore more adapted to the more solid feces, they filter better.
One box contains 100 sheets.
100% biodegradable, 100% natural fibre

Our skin is constantly attacked by pollutants and irritants from our environment. This is why, for its range of baby products, Natracare uses no irritating additives, no dyes, and no fragrances, to protect the baby’s fragile skin. Mums and dads want to give their babies the best, this is why more and more parents choose to feed their children organic food. They pay more attention to the ingredients used in the products they apply on their skin, as well as that of their children.
Many well-known baby product brands, available around the world, use substances such as skimming agents and SLS, as well as synthetic preservatives such as phenoxyethanol and parabens… In a recent British study, these have been pointed out after parabens were found in mammary tissue. Parabens include methyl, propyl, butyl and paraben ethanol, which belong to a wide group of chemical and toxic products, of which no one could predict the long-term effects, in case of daily use on human skin.
A whole range of chemical products is widely used in hygiene products such as intimate wipes. It is necessary for us to know if we should be more careful when using this or that chemical product.
Hygiene products for babies and people with sensitive skin should not only exclude the aforementioned chemical products, but should also avoid propylene glycols, polyethylenes (PEG), isopropyls, myristates and formaldehydes, which release preservatives such as imidazolidinyl urea.
Natracare’s entire range of baby products contains no chemical detergent such as SLS, petroleum, mineral oils, parabens and synthetic preservatives, and are made from organic plant ingredients. Their softness makes them ideal for delicate skins, since all our products are made from pure essential oils, such as lavender, geranium and mandarin; and plant oils such as hemp, sesame, sunflower, aloe and jojoba.
In Natracare baths and shampoos, we do not use sodium laureth sulfate or similar ingredients as foaming agents. They are replaced with an amphoteric ingredient derived from rapeseed, which is approved by the swedish conservation society.
